Dan Tri readers donated over VND24m to help a fourteen-month-old baby in Ha Tinh Province suffering from skin cancer.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Van

Since birth Nguyen Thi Thuy Van has had black lesions all over her body, which are steadily growing. Doctors have diagnosed the condition as melanoma, skin cancer.

Her father, Nguyen Duc Dung, is a lowly-paid labourer and her mother, Vo Thi Hue, is too sick to work. Van needs urgent, and regular, expensive treatment, but the couple cannot afford the treatment as if falls beyond the remit of their health insurance.

Van's family receives donation

Many people called or visited Van's family to give them gifts and encouragement.

Vo Thi Hue, Van's mother, said they had received VND4,660,000 before Tet. Since then, the family was given over VND20m from kind readers.

"We want to thank everyone who helped us to have a happy Tet Holiday. Your kindness is also a wealth of encouragement for us to continue Van's long-term treatment and other challenges," she said.
