DTiNews readers support poor woman facing death

DTiNews have provided VND10 million (USD454) to help Tran Thi Suong a poor woman in the southern province of Dong Nai who is on the verge of death due to dengue fever.

The money is part of the newspaper's Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund provided by readers.

The donation was given patient’s husband on February 22. Suong has been staying at HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases since February 8 due to the medical complications of case.

Her husband Dang Thai Tung said that on Feb 2, Suong suddenly showed signs of a fever, but because of having no money, she was not able to go to hospital for the treatment. After the five-day fever, she suffered from vaginal bleeding and gingival bleeding.

Doctors said she now has a chronic case due to the lack of rapid treatment.

The daily treatment fees for Suong is around VND10 million (USD454), but, her condition has almost seen no improvement.

The husband said that the couple has no money, so they have had to borrow funds from different sources. However, the loans can't cover the huge daily fees. He even wanted to ask doctors for taking her wife to return home to wait for the death.

Speaking to DTiNews reporter, Doctor Nguyen Thanh Truong from the hospital, said that the patient was hospitalised late, so the treatment faced many difficulties and refused to give a positive prognosis.
