Vietnam- US cooperation in orthopedic operations for children
Five children with congenital
malformation will be given orthopedic surgery under a charity program
called "Lifting up Dreams 2016" which began on March 5 at Hanoi-based
Hong Ngoc General Hospital.
Under the program, four American and one Vietnamese doctors will provide medical check-ups and treatment diagrams for 50 cases with malformation.
According to the Department of Child Care and Protection of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, there are about 1.3 million handicapped children in Vietnam, many of them are born with a cleft palate.
Non-governmental organisations, along with domestic and foreign experts have conducted a number of free surgery programmes for children with cleft lip and palate
