An old blind woman in Ha Nam Province is in desperate need of help to support her two small grandchildren after their father was imprisoned and their mother left them.

Nguyen Thi Mich, grandmother of Luu Van Dat and Luu Minh Hieu, said their mother left them in 2011 and her father was imprisoned four years later.

"When my son was one year old, I had eyesores then lost my sight gradually. When he married and had two sons, I was so happy because we had a full house," Mich said. "But then his wife abandoned us and he got arrested. He's an addict and involved in drug-dealing. I thought he was a good child. I didn't know anything until the police arrested him,"

Mich's oldest grandson is in 8th grade and the youngest is in first grade. They both miss their parents but know that their mother will never come back. Such knowledge still hurts the little boys.

Since Mich is blind and can't work, their lives are depended on a small monthly allowance. Their house barely contains furniture. Their neighbours helped buying blankets for them to last winter and charity groups brought them some chairs.
