A couple in Hoa Binh Province is calling for financial support to help cover treatment for their daughter who is struggling with serious heart problems.
Diagnosed with a single ventricle, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram, 8 years old, has had two operations, but the situation has not improved and doctors said she will have to need more surgery.
Tram has had two heart operations
Tram's father Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that she has been staying at E Hospital in Hanoi for eight months with the daily expense of around VND1 million (USD47.6). Her family has incurred big debts to date and now does not know where to borrow more money to cover the hospital fees.
Doctor Tran Dac Dai from E Hospital said that after two operations, Tram still faces a valve problem, so she has to need an additional operation. Meanwhile, she has also suffered from cerebral infarction as she has stayed at the emergency ward for so long.
“Her family is so poor, while the treatment fees are too costly. We have called on doctors and staff members as well as the patients at the hospital to support the family. She has to use many expensive medicines not covered by health insurance, adding to the financial burden for her family. Tam's health condition is very weak, she has to use machine to support for breathing," Doctor Dai said.
