A nine year-old girl in Thanh Hoa Province faces a very gloomy future as her mother died and she herself is facing a serious disease, making it almost impossible for her to speak.
Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi in Tan Tho Commune, Nong Cong District has been living with her maternal grandparents for eight years since her mother was killed when she was just one year old.

Yen’s mother was raped and then killed by robbers when she was on the way home from work. Meanwhile, Yen is the result of the love between her mother and a man, but when she informed him of the pregnancy, he refused his responsibility and stopped the relationship with her.
The young girl now can speak some simple words because nerve problems have seriously affected her throat. Doctors said that she needs an operation but now her grandparents do not know how to have money to cover the hospital fees.
Yen and her grandparents live in a very dilapidated house which can be collapse anytime, particularly at bad weather.
Yen faces dull future
The girl’s grandparents are both more than 80 years old and are often sick. They are always worried about Yen’s future when they die.
The old couple and their niece now only live on subsidies for the poor household and the orphan.
