DTiNews has transferred over VND67m (USD3,000) of donations from readers to help a little girl in Danang City who is struggling with leukaemia.

Anh's father receives the donation

Le Hai Son is a high school physical education teacher while his wife, Duong Thi Nhung, doesn't have stable job. In 2011, Nhung gave birth to their daughter, Le Phuong Anh, but Anh has weak health and often gets sick. Because of poverty, they could only buy cheap medicines and couldn’t afford to take Anh to the doctors.

Early this year, Anh was admitted to Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City and diagnosed with leukaemia and kidney tumour after having high fever and urinating blood. Doctors said she needed a two-year course of treatment and special medicines that would cost up to VND300m (USD13,600). Without these medicines, Anh might continue to live for only two or three months.

Her parents borrowed money from co-workers and relatives but it is not enough for the treatment. Anh had to temporarily stay at the city's Blood Transfusion and Haematology Hospital while her parents trying to borrow more money.

After their story was published, many people have visited and given Anh presents. DTiNews also transferred VND67,130,000 from readers to Anh's family. Anh's father said they had received a total of over VND400m from readers. Thanks to this help Anh has been able to start the treatment.

"Thank you everyone for helping us. The day we received the diagnosis that Anh had leukaemia, we cried because we didn't know where to find hundreds of millions of VND. Now thanks to you that she has a chance to live," he said.
