Nhi is living with her grandparents in a dilapidated house which could collapse anytime. Her grandparents are over 80 years old and worry about Nhi’s future when they die.

After her story was published, many readers have called for encouragement and donated to her. Thanks to the kindness from everyone, the local authorities of Tan Tho Commune and Nhi's neighbours helped build a new house for her family.

Representatives of DTiNews continued to transfer another VND50.78m (USD2,600) donation. The charity group of Nguyen Lan Phuong, an official from Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee, also donated VND26.60m to Nhi.

Ngo Xuan Venh, Nhi's grandfather, said sometimes he thought he was still dreaming.

Do Van Phuong, chairman of Tan Tho Commune Disabled People's Association, also expressed his gratitude.

"Without your help, the family might have had to live in poverty and dilapidated house until their very last breath. The commune is also poor so we couldn't help them. We'll help them set up a savings account for Nhi," he said.
