More classrooms built for children in remote area

Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper, the For Children Foundation, and the People's Committee of Lang Chanh District in Thanh Hoa Province held the opening ceremony for Na Dang Kindergarten on January 15.

The new school, which was funded by DTiNews' readers and the For Children Foundation, was built in one of the most difficult areas of the remote mountainous district where the children are from the Thai ethnic minority group.

After a story about the difficult conditions afflicting the students and teachers was published in Dantri/DTiNews, many readers and the For Children Foundation have sent donations to help build a new school in the area.

Construction of the school started in December 2016 investment of VND300 million (USD13,312).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, DTiNews' deputy editor-in-chief, Pham Tuan Anh, said "We’re very happy to see another new school built for children in Thanh Hoa. We hope that this will help students and teachers here have a more convenient and safer place to study."


 DTiNews' deputy editor-in-chief, Pham Tuan Anh, gave 20 scholarships from DTiNews to students from poor families in Lang Chanh District, Thanh Hoa Province.

At the ceremony, Tuan Anh also gave 20 scholarships worth VND500,000 each from DTiNews to students from poor families. The For Children Foundation also gave warm clothes and blankets to local people. Hop Luc Joint Stock Company also presented desks, study equipment and toys to the school.

 


Headmaster of the school, Le Thi Ngọc, expressed thanks to DTiNews and For Children Foundation for the new school.

"We're very grateful for the kind support of DTiNews readers and the For Children Foundation," Ngoc said. "This is our happiest day. With these new classrooms, now we don't have to worry about the cold winter days."

DTiNews has built 21 classrooms in many disadvantaged areas in Son La, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Quang Binh, and Nghe An with donations and support from readers and many companies and organisations from in and outside Vietnam over the past 10 years.
