Five orphans in Ben Tre Province get support
Many DTiNews readers have provided their financial support to five orphaned children in the southern province of Ben Tre.
They are maternal grandchildren of Nguyen Ngoc Ha in Binh Thoi Commune, Binh Dai District. Ha said that her daughter had three children with her ex-husband and two children with her boyfriend. However, Ha's daughter died two months ago because of acute lung failure, leaving behind five children with Ha. The oldest is in 10th grade and the youngest is three years old.
When Ha is ill, two youngest children are taken care of by the neighbours and return home at night.
A charity group of District 4 in HCM City granted VND100 million for the children to build a new house. On February 16, DTiNews reporter presented VND10.2 million which were contributed by donors to them.
On the Tet Holiday, the children also received food and clothes from neighbours. To date, donors have provided VND250 million (USD11,900) for the orphans.
