DTiNews gives gifts to poor people in Gia Lai

DTiNews granted 100 gifts for poor people in a commune in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai where 75% of local households are poor and living near the poverty line.

The gifts include milk and warm clothes donated by NutiFood Company and Hoffmann La Roche Ltd.

So Ro Commune was among the most disadvantaged and remote areas in the province and 80% of the population are ethnic minority people.

The people in the commune lives on farming which, however, depends much on the weather. Over the past years, the commune has often faced drought and flooding, causing many difficulties for local farmers.

Due to the poverty, many children have to leave the school to help their parents and many of them suffer from malnutrition.

A local woman said that her three-year-old daughter weighed only 12 kilos. Besides breast milk, she has never given any other kinds of milk and was delighted on receiving the gift.

Dinh Gunh, Vice Chairman of So Ro People’s Committee, thanked the support of donors and DTiNews.
