Family suffers severe burns after gas cylinder explosion
A family in Hai Phong City is in need of help as all three members were burnt after a cooking gas cylinder exploded.
On April 6, Bui Van Thanh's family and other relatives were cooking when they smell the gas. Everyone ran out as fast as they could but Thanh, his wife and son were too close to the gas cylinder.
Thanh was admitted to Vietnam-Czech Hospital in Hai Phong City and transferred to the National Institute of Burn as 68% of Thanh's body was burnt. He is having respiratory failure and his condition is worsening.
Dr Le Quang Thao said, "31% of the injuries are fourth and third-degree burns. We had carried out an operation to cut the necrosis and graft new skin on his hands. But his wounds are infected. He doesn't have health insurance so the daily treatment cost goes up to VND15m (USD660). When he needs dialysis, the costs will double."
Vu Thi Mua, Thanh's wife said, "We’re farmers and sometimes I sell porridge and bread for more incomes. We can take care of our family but now I don't know what to do. If something happens to my husband, I don't know how we can live on."
