Ill mother calls for help
A poor man with three small children from Ede ethnic minority group in Dak Lak Province is calling for financial support to help treat his wife who has tuberculosis.
Y Thang Nie and his wife H Yiao Nie are casual labourers and they pick up wild vegetables and bamboo shoots for more incomes.
Her family also invited shaman to chase away the forest spirit that is believed to be torturing her. But her condition keeps getting worse. Her legs become rigid and she can hardly stretch her legs out.
Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital in HCM finally diagnosed her with spinal tuberculosis and needed to be operated on as soon as possible to avoid complications. The estimated cost is VND90m (USD3,900) but the family has only VND2m.
H Yiao Nie has three children who may have to drop out of school because of poverty.
