Young mother calls for help for ill daughter
A mother in Phu Tho Province is in need of help to treat her three-year-old daughter who is suffering from kidney cancer.
Ha Thi Hoan's daughter, Luong Dieu Linh, is only three years old but she has gone through various chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions as the cancerous tumour already spread to her lung. Hoan also no longer has breast milk to feed her one-year-old son, Luong Manh Hai.
"When Hai was four months old, hard lumps appears on Linh's belly. Doctors said she had kidney cancer and was in last stages, the tumour also spread to her lung," Hoan said.
"We don't have any money so I carry them on my motorbike all 100km to Hanoi," Hoan said.
Hoan's husband, Luong Duc Tho is a freelance worker and most of his income is used to buy medicines for the children. Tho's sister abandoned her child long ago so he has to take care of his wife and children, his mother and niece with little income.
Luong Thi Chac, head of the women's union in the village, said, "They don't own any land or else they'll probably sell it to treat the children."
"I have nothing. If only I can exchange myself to keep my children alive... But can I?" Hoan said.
