The children’s grandmother Nguyen Thi Tap said that her daughter-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer while she was pregnant for the third child. After a short time of giving birth to the third child Bui Van Nho in 2013, she died.

In 2016, the children’s father Bui Van Toan also died of lung cancer. Since then, they have lived with their grandparents who are often sick.
The eldest child Bui Van Nam, 15, had to leave school to work to support the family, while the second child Bui Thi Thanh Chuc, 12, is now taking care of the grandfather at the hospital following his recent traffic accident.

After the accident, he was not given timely and proper treatment due to the family’s financial difficulties, so the injuries became more serious with infection. Doctors said that he needs urgent surgery, but the family can’t afford it, Tap said.Bui Cong Binh, head of Ngoc Cuc Village, said that he called on local residents to support the family, but, it is very modest compared to the difficulties they are facing.
