Father and daughter face leg loss after accident
A father and daughter in Quang Nam Province may lose most of their leg function after a traffic accident.
Nguyen Van Khanh and his 7-year-old daughter, Nguyen Thi Cam Ly, were travelling to visit Ly's grandfather when they were hit by a truck. Khanh's left leg and both of his arms were broken. His daughter's leg was also broken.
Khanh and his daughter have gone through three operations each but their conditions haven't improved. Nguyen Thi Thoi, Khanh's wife, said they already spent hundreds of millions of VND.
Khanh is a bricklayer and Thoi is a vegetable seller. They are struggling to pay hospital charge while taking care of ill mother and raising their second child who is three years old.
Dr Do Tuan Ngoc from Danang General Hospital said Khanh and his daughter were operated on at another hospital before but their wounds became necrotic. The doctors tried their best to keep Khanh's leg but he will lose 50-60% of the function.
"Ly is in the same state as Khanh. We are trying to keep her leg too but the function loss will be up to 70%. We are waiting for her wound to heal more before doing a skin graft," Ngoc said.
