6-year-old girl suffers from heart disease
A small girl from Nghe An Province, who has gone through multiple heart operations, is in need of help pay for the operation to install her pacemaker as the family can no longer afford hospital charges.
Six-year-old Dang Thuy Duong already has gone under five operations and is preparing for the sixth.
"If she only needed one or two operations then we could borrow money but she has had too many operations. This time, we thought she would be sent home soon but doctors said she must have a permanent pacemaker in order to breathe. I was shocked because I don't know how to get VND100m (USD4,400)," Duong's mother, Tran Thi Duyen, said.
"If only I were the one with the illness, I could die for her to be healthy," Duong's mother said.
Dr Tran Dac Dai, head of the Pediatric Cardiology Department at E Hospital, said, "Duong needed to be operated on too many times. When she was six months old and eight months old, she was operated twice to have her mitral valve repaired."
According to Dai, Duong continued going through three more operations to install the artificial mitral valve and repair the tricuspid valve. However, this time, her condition is so severe that she needs a permanent pacemaker.
