Old parents dedicated to mentally-ill children
86-year-old Tran Dinh Sai and his wife from Ha Nam Province have been struggling to take care of two children who have both suffered from mental illness for years.
It's unclear why his children are mentally ill. Sai's youngest son, Tran Dinh Vinh, has been mentally ill for over a decade and was given the certificate of mental illness in 2009 to receive some basic allowances. He often wanders around, brings rubbish home or climbs onto the roof and screams.
Sai's wife is losing her eyesight so she lives with their third child who is a single mother of a five-year-old son. She is lent a land near the cemetery to build a small house. Sai's second child, Tran Dinh Ve, is also poor and can't help them.
Tran Quang Manh, head of Hamlet 3+4, said, "Sometimes, they don't have anything to eat. Their two ill children often destroy the furniture."
