Spearheaded by The UPS Foundation, the global philanthropic and corporate citizenship arm of UPS, Global Volunteer Month mobilizes employees around the world to engage in a variety of service activities. During the month of October, UPS Vietnam employees took part in a range of volunteering activities.

It helped improve the living environment for the disabled at the vocational center for people in Ho Chi Minh City, prepared food for and served the homeless and disabled residents at a center for disabled people, or spent quality time with children by gardening and preparing and serving food at the SOS Children’s Village in Ben Tre.

“Volunteerism is a huge part of the UPS culture,” said Mr. Daryl Tay, Managing Director of UPS Vietnam. “UPS is in the business of connecting people, improving lives, and taking communities forward. As a global organization, we’re pleased to have the opportunity to mobilize our resources to help those who are less fortunate within our communities.”

Global Volunteer Month in Vietnam will help UPS reach 2.15 million volunteer hours in 2017. UPS has a commitment to volunteer 20 million community service hours by the end of 2020, and has reached more than 70 per cent of the goal. Through UPS’s membership with IMPACT 2030, UPS continues to encourage employee volunteering to help advance the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2017, The UPS Foundation also donated a total of $87,000 to improve access to education for underprivileged children and support the development of sustainable rural industries in Vietnam.

The UPS Foundation leads UPS’s global citizenship programs, including Global Volunteer Month. The UPS Foundation encourages employees across the globe to volunteer their time. Global Volunteer Month helps increase the focus on volunteerism and community service in October so UPS employees can make a big impact.
