Tong My Nhu in hospital

Tong My Nhu is no longer in critical condition and has been transferred from Cho Ray Hospital to Children's Hospital 2 to avoid cross infection. However, doctors worry that she may face consequences after the injury such as seizures. The muscles on the right side of her body are weaker than the left.

Nhu fell down stairs while accompanying her mother at work at a hotel. Without help from grandparents or her father, My and her mother did not have any money to pay for hospital treatment.

Le Thi Uyen Nhi, Nhu's mother, said her grandparents and father had died and her mother remarried. She came to live with her husband's family after being pregnant. His family wanted a son but Nhi gave birth to two daughters. Her parents-in-law got angry and suspected that Nhu was the daughter of another man and her husband wanted to divorce her.

Nhi was expelled from her husband's family. She takes care of Nhu while her husband takes care of their second daughter. When Nhu fell down the stairs, Nhi wanted help from her husband but his family refused, believing that Nhu was not their granddaughter.

After her story was published, Nhi's mother was informed about the situation and visited them at the hospital after losing contact for two years. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Nhi's mother, said all of the money will be used to treat her granddaughter. Huong and Nhi are managing VND80m (USD3,500) and other parts are being managed by DTiNews and Cho Ray Hospital.

"We'll receive the monthly interest on the deposit to raise Nhu until she's 18 and capable of managing her own finances," Huong said.
