Poor student struggling with cancer needs help
A poor student in the central province of Ha Tinh who is suffering from bone cancer is in desperate need of the support.
Hoang Minh Tu from grade 11A1 of Duc Tho High School has lost large amounts of weight after several months of struggling with the disease.
Tu’s mother said that about three months ago, Tu started feeling pains in his thigh. The pains have then become more serious, making him to be nearly unable to move.
Taken to Ha Tinh General Hospital, Tu was diagnosed with bone cancer. His parents were really shocked at the result, but they still hoped that the diagnosis might be wrong. After that, they took their son to K Hospital in Hanoi where the same result was confirmed.
Doctors said that he needs radiotherapy to lengthen his life, which is quite costly, while his family is in financial difficulties.
Tu’s mother said it has cost the family up to more than VND200 million (around USD9,000) for his treatment. Meanwhile, Tu’s grandfather has been bed-ridden following a stroke.
Nguyen Manh Hung, the headmaster of Duc Tho High School, said that Tu had achieved good academic results for many years. He hoped that donors will join hands to support Tu’s family.
