Every day, the three-year-old Vu Thanh Ha in Ham Yen District’s Yen Phu Commune faces with serious pains as her eyes often have pus which is caused by retinoblastoma.

The little girl struggling with retinoblastoma 

The current cold weather makes her to be more painful. Her parents have to use jute bags and old clothes to cover holes in the deteriorated house to make it warmer.

The girl has been living with the disease since when she was just more than one month old. After detecting unusual signs on the daughter’s eyes, the couple took her to local hospitals and then the National Hospital of Ophthalmology where she was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in both of her eyes.

When she was three months old, doctors at the hospital advised to remove her left eye and after the operation, the girl had to take radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Despite efforts by both doctors and her family, finally, her right eye was also removed last July. 

The house of the poor family

After the second operation, her right eye socket has continued being swollen, resulting in pains with pus. The little girl cries almost all day.

The poor couple has been trying to borrow money to take her to hospital for treatment, but over the past ten days, they have not yet raised the money. 

Her family has incurred a big debt from banks to cover the hospital fees for her daughter so far.
