Little girl struggles against illness
Huyen, a nine-year-old girl in Hung Yen Province is in need of financial support for her lymphoma treatment as her parents are too poor to pay hospital charges.
According to Huyen's mother, at first, Huyen coughed a lot then she had a fever and swollen lymph nodes appeared on her body. When she was brought to Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics, doctors found a tumour in her heart and diagnosed her with stage three lymphoma.
Huyen had to leave school for a year and her situation has improved.
Huyen's mother, who is in her seventh month of pregnancy, has had to quit her job to take care of Huyen. Their family all depend on the daily wage of VND150,000 (USD6.60) of Huyen's father. They have borrowed money from everyone they can. They have used the land-use rights book as collateral to borrow hundreds of millions of VND from the bank but it's still far from enough.
