The construction of the 14th Dantri/DTiNews bridge in Tra Vinh Province has been started to help local people on April 7.

Groundbreaking ceremony for Dantri 14th bridge

This is Dantri/DTiNews' eighth bridge in the Mekong Delta and the 14th in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion, May 10 Corporation and the authorities in Cau Ke District held the groundbreaking ceremony to build a bridge over Rach Dui River in Rach Dui Hamlet.

The bridge will be 35 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and costs VND375m (USD15,000). The bridge is expected to be completed in two months to help local people cross the river more safely.

Ninh Thoi Commune Chairman Nguyen Thanh Liem said, "Ninh Thoi is located near Hau River and has lots of canals. For years, the Rach Dui Bridge served hundreds of people on a daily basis and had severely deteriorated. Many people have difficulties when travelling places to places but we lacked fund to build a new bridge."

Liem said they were happy to hear that May 10 Corporation and Dantri/DTiNews would help build a new bridge.

Pham Tuan Anh, Dantri/DTiNews Deputy Editor-in-Chief, expressed gratitude to May 10 Corporation and other readers who helped to make the project come true.

"We've collaborated with many organisations to build classrooms and bridges for the disadvantaged and remote areas. The new bridge in Rach Dui will help children and elderly people cross the river more safely," he said.

Ngo Thanh Xuan, Cau Ke District Vice Chairman, also thanked the donors.

On the same day, Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion gave 20 scholarships for the poor pupils, each worth VND500,000.
