30-year-old Bui Thanh Han said they were told to abort the second child because of a birth defect but couldn't end the small life. After being born, his son, Y Binh An, gets sick often and goes to the hospital every week. He later was diagnosed with meningocele, a birth defect where there is a sac protruding from the spinal column, and had an operation in late 2017.

Han's wife, H'Linh Eban, has Thalassemia and her condition is worsening. Han had to take a leave of absence from work to take care of his son and wife. As a result, they didn't have enough money to pay rent.

After their story was published on Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper, many readers have sent money to help.

On April 30, representative of Dantri visited and transferred VND103,840,000 to Han's family. Han said many people from in and outside Vietnam had called after the story was published. Thanks to everyone, Han's wife had recovered and was discharged.

However, his son was admitted to Children's Hospital 1 because his condition worsened.

"I don't know what would have happened without everyone's help. I want to express my sincerest gratitude to everyone that helped us," Han said.
