Tran The Quy’ family, 36, in Son Thanh Dong Commune, Tay Hoa District, is among the poorest households in the locality. He has been suffering from a bone tumour for seven years. 

Quy is now living with his wife and his daughter in a small ramshackle house.

Quy said that he started feeling pains in his leg after he fell down from his motorbike, causing the leg to hit into the road. He went to the hospital for a medical exam and x-rays of his leg, but doctors did not detect anything serious.

One year after he was diagnosed with the tumour, he was told that he would need surgery.

In order to earn money for treatment, he went to Ho Chi Minh City to sell lottery tickets however, the income was inadequate. He even had the misfortune of being robbed by customers of his lottery tickets.

His wife, Lam Thi My Trang has to work hard to support their family while he stays at home.

Each month, his family receives a subsidy of VND405,000  for being an impoverished household. The rely on farming for income which is from enough to save for treating his illness.
