Little boy has constant struggle with illnesses
A single mum in Ninh Binh Province is calling for financial support to help treat her nine-year-old son who is struggling with various diseases including brain atrophy and congenital heart disease.
"My first husband died in 2004," Sang said. "I met and lived with Loi's father four years later. We didn't get married. When I gave birth to Loi, he probably just felt he couldn’t cope with all the diseases and left."
Loi was born with brain atrophy, congenital heart disease and epilepsy.
Sang said she had to borrow money from everywhere to treat Loi. After heart surgery, Loi doesn't faint as often as previously but he has started getting more seizures as they don't have money to buy medicine. Some days, he gets as many as eight seizures. Sang makes baskets for VND30,000 (USD1.32) a day while incurring hundreds of millions of VND in debts.
Dinh Van Duc, head of the Village 11 said, "Sang's family is one of our priorities whenever there is any funding or loans but it's not enough. The neighbours can only help them so much with rice and vegetables."
