Three children face uncertain future after father's death
Three children in Bac Giang Province are in need of financial support after their father died and their mother has serious health problems.
"He had been ill for a long time but still tried to go to work as a bricklayer. Over a month ago, he suddenly fainted at work, breaking his hip and thigh bones in the process. Doctors transferred him to Hanoi immediately where he was diagnosed with lung cancer," Ngan said.
Her husband was already in the last stage of cancer. Doctors also couldn't operate on his broken leg as he was too weak. He died over a month later. Two of Ngan's oldest children dropped out of school at 8th and 10th grades to find jobs and her youngest son is only 10 years old.
"I was paralysed and need the wheelchair since then and my husband used to take care of me and our children," she said. "He borrowed money and went anywhere after hearing that my illnesses could be cured. But nothing changed and we were in debts. I still need to take medicines or else I'll die.
