12-year-old boy lost a part of his lung to illness
A single mother in Ninh Binh Province is calling for help to treat her 12-year-old son from a lung problem.
Dr Ta Anh Tuan said, "He has a lung abscess so we couldn't stop the bleeding. We had to operate and cut out a part of his lung quickly to prevent infection. He is no longer in critical condition but still needs to be monitored and the treatment will be costly."
Duong's mother, Nguyen Thi Nga, is borrowing money from everywhere she can to pay hospital charges. Tumours were found in Nga's throat and breast six years ago but she didn't have money for check-ups or surgery. After her son fell ill, she spends all the time trying to save him.
Nga said she didn't have the mind to do anything else.
Dr Tuan said, "Nga was very scared when she brought Duong to hospital. She is also ill too but can't afford to pay for her own treatment."
