Tran Duc Binh, 65, in Thach Xuan Commune, Thach Ha District is taking care of the two ailing sons. The eldest son Tran Le Huy, 37, is now in critical condition of kidney failure and the youngest, Tran Le Hung, is suffering from leukemia.

Binh said that in 2011, Huy was diagnosed with the kidney failure. Since then, he has sold all of his family’s possessions to fund the treatment, but Huy’s condition has not improved. 

At present, Huy has to take hemodialysis for three times every week. 

In mid-2018, Hung suddenly lost weight quickly along with signs of tiredness. 

Doctors at Ha Tinh General Hospital diagnosed him with leukemia. Doctors at the National Institute of Hematology & Blood Transfusion also reached the same diagnosis.

Binh’s family have accumulated debts of VND200 million (USD9,000) following the son’s treatments. 

Binh said that he has five children. Among those, three girls are married, while Hung and Huy have remained single. His wife is also living with some heart problems and arthritis.
