The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City (CanCham) has announced the 2018 Terry Fox Run Vietnam and its t-shirt launch. This is the 22nd holding of the annual non-competitive charity event and will take place on November 18 in the context of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Canada.

Last year, the Terry Fox Run (TFR) Vietnam was the largest Terry Fox Run in the world for the second consecutive year, with more than 20,000 participants and donors. It’s CanCham’s largest annual CSR event in Vietnam, and it’s very proud to have held the run in Vietnam for more than two decades.

All donations raised are directed to supporting an international pediatric oncology hematology program in Vietnam, supporting the children’s hospital network in Vietnam via the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City and international experts and their university hospitals. The aim of the program is to establish clinical and research capability within the Vietnam system for children with cancer.

“We therefore gratefully and graciously encourage all companies, schools, communities, families, and individuals to once again join us in the 5km Run, Walk, Wheel, or Ride,” said Mr. Antony Nezic, Co-Chairman of TFR Vietnam. “There are no sponsorships or product marketing - the only purpose of the Terry Fox Run is to come together, to raise awareness, and to donate funds for cancer research. All funds raised stay in Vietnam for use on cancer research projects and there are zero administration fees and all time from the organizers is volunteered.”

The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where people get together as individuals, families, and groups to raise money for cancer research in Terry Fox’s name. It is a day of celebrating his legacy and helping to keep alive his dream of finding a cure for cancer. The Terry Fox Run is no longer just a Canadian tradition - it is actively organized in more than 30 countries around the world and in thousands of locations in Canada and the US. To date, over $750 million has been raised worldwide in Terry’s name for cancer research.
