Four poor siblings receive readers' support

Dan Tri/Dtinews Newspaper has just transferred VND91 million (USD3,957) from readers sent to support four siblings in Phu Yen Province whose mother died and father left them.




A representative from Dtinews and Hoa Quang Nam Commune Chairman, Dang Nho Hao came to give the donation to the children's grandfather, Tran Van Binh on February 5.

The children's mother, Tran Thi Hong Son died from cancer two years ago. Her husband left her and the children after she was diagnosed with cancer. She took her four children to live with her elderly parents and then died in 2017. Since then, the four small children aged from 3 to 10 live with their grandparents who have no stable work.

After Dan Tri Newspaper run an article to share about the poor family's story, many readers had sent money to the Newspaper's Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund to support them.

The grandfather, Tran Van Binh said that he was surprised and moved when receiving such a large sum of money from the public.

"I want to send my sincere thanks to readers of Dan Tri Newspaper," he said. "We will open a bank account to deposit VND70 million and use the rest VND21million to pay the debts left from our daughter's cancer treatment and buy some new clothes for the children to celebrate Tet holiday."

Speaking at the meeting, Hoa Quang Nam Commune Chairman Dang Nho Hao said that Binh's family was the poorest in the area.

Local authorities have also tried to support them over the past time but they're still facing lots of difficulties in everyday life," the official said. "We feel very happy when seeing they have received more support from the public."
