Terminally-ill mother searches for support
A single mother in Hung Yen Province is calling for financial support to help treat lung cancer.
Dinh's parents divorced when she was only six months old. Dinh lived alone after her father died when she was 14 years old. Dinh was happy when she got married and had her first child. Unfortunately, she found out that her husband was a drug addict and refused to go into rehab.
She divorced her husband after three years and travelled to Hanoi to find work. In 2017, Dinh had breathing difficulties and was diagnosed with lung cancer.
"I didn't want to live anymore when I heard the diagnosis. But I know I can't die yet because of my son. I borrowed money to pay for treatment at the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital in Tan Trieu but it was not enough so I decided to halt the treatment in September 2017," she said.
After successfully borrowing VND170m (USD7,300) to continue the treatment, she was transferred to Bach Mai Hospital. Dr Nguyen Tien Dong said her treatment had medicine that was not covered in health insurance and would cost Dinh VND80m every time she went to the hospital.
"She responded very well to the drugs and it's such a shame if she can't continue the treatment," he said.

Bui Thi Dinh in need of help to treat cancer
