Single mother calls for help to save son from cerebral palsy
A mother from Can Tho City is in need of help to treat her little son who is suffering from cerebral palsy.
Phat's mother, Hoang Thi Hai Yen, said she was scared when Phat was unable to lift his head at four months old.
"I was shocked when doctors said he had cerebral palsy. I know children with cerebral palsy have a very hard life. Some children's minds remain stunted forever," she said.
After the initial shock, she started researching hospitals and available treatments for cerebral palsy. She was not afraid of hardship but her husband abandoned them in the most difficult time. For four years, she travelled everywhere from Can Tho to HCM City to Hanoi to find the best treatment for Phat.
"Thanks to the deities, Phat's mind wasn't stunted, only his legs don't work so he has to crawl. It's hurt when he told me that he wanted to walk and run like other kids," Yen said.
