Young man polishes shoes for 10 years to have money for treatment
A family in Ha Tinh Province is calling for financial support to help treat their son who is suffering from kidney failure.
Dr Tran Dinh Trong from Ha Tinh General Hospital, said, "Cuong is in the last stage of kidney failure. Without regular treatment, his life will be at risk. He needs rest but because of poverty, he has to work to earn money for the treatment."
When Cuong was in good health, he used to cycle to save money and only used his motorbike when he didn't feel well enough.
"I have many siblings but most of them don't have stable jobs so life is hard. When it's dry, I can earn VND100,000 a day but if it's rain, my daily income dropped to VND30,000-VND50,000. I can't do anything else because of my health," Cuong said.
Many cafes and restaurant owners know him and his situation so they let him go into the restaurants to find customers. Some people gave him good tips when they knew about his struggle.
Vo Thi Chuong, Cuong's mother, said, "We sold everything we could. Our house was also used as collateral. There's nothing else we can do."
