Dantri/DTiNews readers have sent VND210,300,000 (USD9,000) to help a poor man in Thanh Hoa Province who is struggling with cancer.

Dang Thi Hong receives the donation

Le Trong Ty is being treated at Bach Mai Hospital. He is already in the last stages of cancer when he went to doctors and was told that he only had months to live. His only treatment now is a bone marrow transplant that will cost him at least VND200m.

Ty's son is 10 years old and has a mental disability and hyperactivity disorder. His 3-year-old daughter was treated for severe burns not long before Ty was diagnosed with lymphoma.

Ty said he wanted to live to take care of his son and to work so that his daughter treatment can be continued. "We could only dream of having VND200m," he said.

Dang Thi Hong, Ty's wife, said she was moved when receiving the donations. "Even though we still owed the hospital charges, doctors still let my husband receive bone marrow transplant treatment because he wouldn't have been able to go on any longer."

Hong thanked Dantri readers and Bach Mai Hospital for helping her husband. She then donated VND30m to Nguyen Dang Duong who is also a cancer patient, and VND20m to another patient, Nguyen Thi Dinh.
