Lam Tien Thang from Phan Thiet High School is the winner of Microsoft Office Specialist contest of Tuyen Quang Province, and IT competitions in Tuyen Quang City and the province.

Thang is now being treated at the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion in Hanoi. Meanwhile, his mother Nguyen Thi Bich Hoan who is taking care of him at the hospital has been also diagnosed with an oesophagus tumour.

Ly Thi Hao from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion’s Charitable Department said that Thang had been moved to the hospital from K Hospital. His mother’s disease needs urgent care but the family can’t afford the treatment.

Despite chemotherapy, Thang is still interested in reading. He said books help him to forget his pain and long days at the hospital.

Thang has won first prizes of three IT competitions

Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, headmaster of Phan Thiet High School, said that he is good at IT. He has also had good academic results for many years.

Thang dreams of having a computer, but his family are too poor to afford it.
