Teenager gets community support to treat cancer
Dantri Online Newspaper has just transferred nearly VND162 million (USD7,043) in readers' donations to support a poor teenager girl from the northern province of Vinh Phuc who is struggling with thyroid cancer.
The money was sent by readers to the newspaper's Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund after the story about 13-year-old Nguyen Thi Thu Nga who has cancer while her poor elderly grandmother cannot afford the treatment.

She said she was surprised to receive such support and wanted to send her sincere thanks to all the kind donors for helping her treat the disease.
"With this donation now my grandmother won't have to worry much about finding money for my treatment and I hope that I can return to school again," she said.
Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews, Doctor Dinh Xuan Cuong from Hanoi-based K Hospital who is giving the treatment to Nga said that she was hospitalised recently and was at a serious stage of cancer so doctors had to conduct urgent surgery. He mentioned the timely and proper treatment would help to lengthen her life, but her family couldn’t afford it.

According to the doctor, the treatment for Nga would be long and costly.
