Fatally ill father calls for help for his children's future
A man in Dak Lak Province who is dying from cancer is calling for financial support to help his three children continue to study.
In 2014, he had a workplace accident and broke his thigh bone. His wife had to borrow VND100m to take care of Loi and their newborn baby. Unfortunately, Loi was diagnosed with liver cancer. They are still having to repay debts with monthly interest of VND5m
"In late 2018, I felt very tired and my skin turned yellow. When I went to the hospital, I was told that I was already in the last stage of cancer. I couldn't believe it and felt helpless," he said.
Every time Loi goes to the hospital, he has to borrow money from his relatives. They also sold their cows and goats. As a result, Loi's oldest son who is in 9th grade said he wanted to drop out of school to help.
Both Loi and his wife are afraid that their children will not be able to go to school and are calling for help from the community to help their children. Their youngest son is still in nursery.
Dr Nguyen Dang Giap from the Central Highlands General Hospital said, "Loi may only have months to live. His health insurance doesn't cover many expensive medicines and he still has to raise small children. I hope they will get help from kind people."
