Vu Thi Nhanh from Yen Nam Commune, Duy Tien District is caring for her son Dao Duc Anh, 21, at Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

Nhanh said her husband left home three years ago, so she has become the breadwinner to take care of the two children.

Duc Anh has been unconscious for nearly a month at the hospital because of the disease.

“I have sold everything valuable in my house to cover the treatment for my son. Now I do not know how I can afford this to save him,” Nhanh said in tears.

Doctor Mac Duy Hung from the hospital’s Intensive Care Ward said that Anh’s condition was critical, and he had to use a ventilator. The treatment will be long and costly. Meanwhile, his family is in difficulties and he himself does not have health insurance.

Nhanh even got loans of high interests to afford the treatment. The poor woman is completely powerless to save her ailing son.

She forced to accept to bring him back home to wait for death.

The young man’s survival now depends on the help of donors.
