A cooperation agreement on implementing the World Vision International (WVI)’s initiative of ending physical violence against children at home and school was signed between the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and the humanitarian aid organisation in Hanoi on May 17.

Accordingly, programmes and activities, focusing on education for teachers and students, will be held across 14 cities and provinces nationwide.

The sides will introduce positive teaching methods to teachers, helping them avoid harsh punishment, and instruct pupils to detect violence risks and protect themselves.

MoET Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia pointed out the prevalence and complex developments of school violence, calling for joint efforts of organisations and social forces to implement solutions to such matter.

She said the agreement is important to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children both at home and school.

Tran Thu Huyen, National Director of WVI in Vietnam, said the organisation’s programmes concentrate on nurturing love within families, schools and communities.

The kids who receive love and care will have positive views on the world and show appropriate behaviours, she added.
