Burn victims in desperate need of help to survive
A grandmother and granddaughter from Thai ethnic group in Son La Province are in critical condition after being burned alive in their house.
Unfortunately, Ha Linh Giang, Hue's 3-year-old daughter died on July 9. Hue's eldest daughter, 9-year-old Ha Hai Yen and her mother, 56-year-old Ha Thi Hoan, are still being treated but their family can't afford the treatment.
Lo Thi Hoai, Hue's niece, said, "Hue got married and had Yen but the marriage ended in a divorce. She then met Binh and gave birth to Giang. Binh already has wife and children. He sometimes came to visit Hue. When the neighbours heard the screams and ran to the house, it was too late."
The family was still in shock and unable to borrow money from anyone.
"Yen has 62% burns, of which 21% are very deep burns. Her grandmother has burns of 55% of which 25% are deep burns. They are in critical condition but their family doesn't have enough money for the treatment," he said.
On July 10, Pham Huy Hoan, editor-in-chief of Dantri Newspaper, has given VND20m (USD862) to the family to buy medicines for Yen and Hoan immediately.
Dr Nguyen Hai An, head of the Critical Care Unit, expressed his gratitude for the quick help to the disadvantaged family. "On behalf of the patients' family and the doctors and nurses, we want to thank Dantri Newspaper for supporting our life-saving work," he said.

9-year-old Ha Hai Yen
At 6.30 am on July 7, Nguyen Van Binh, born in 1984, arrived at the house of Ha Thi Hue in Na Bo 2 Village with a petrol can. They argued before Binh stabbed Hue multiple times and burned the house down himself. At that time, two of Hue's daughters and her mother were also in the house.
