Dantri readers have sent over VND100m (USD4,400) to support a disabled boy in Nghe An Province.

Nguyen Van Hoang

Eight-year-old Nguyen Van Hoang was born in a poor village of Truong Xuan, Ky Hop Commune. His father abandoned their family when Hoang's mother was in the fourth month of pregnancy.

Hoang has suffered from congenital limb defect since birth. He can hardly walk at all with the deformed legs and had to use both hands to crawl to school. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with valvular stenosis and has breathing difficulties. Sometimes his body freezed up at night and his family thought that he could die.

"I want to be a firefighter, policeman and doctor," Hoang said when being asked about his dreams.

On October 18, representative of Dantri, Nguyen Ba Toan, head of the Ky Anh District Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and representatives of Ky Hop Commune People's Committee and Ky Hop Primary School visited and transferred VND102,720,000 (USD4,400) of donation to Hoang.

Hoang's family receives donation from readers

Many people have called for encouragement and gave him gifts after knowing about his story. The readers have sent three wheelchairs to Hoang to help him move around more easily. Many people have donated directly to the family VND60m.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Hoang's mother, expressed gratitude to kind readers who helped them during the most difficult times.

"We really don't know what to say but thank you. I'll use all of this money to treat Hoang," she said.

An anonymous reader has helped them contact with a doctor from the US. The doctor will fly to Vietnam in the coming time to check on Hoang's condition.
