Woman struggles to support family at old age
An elderly woman in Ha Nam Province is in need of financial help to support her ill husband and daughter.
Her 54-year-old daughter, Nguyen Thi Nga, suffers from mental illness since she was small and often wanders alone when no one notices. There was one time, Lien was very worried when she couldn't find Nga, worrying that she might have an accident somewhere. Only when Nga was found sitting near a lake that Lien could feel relieved.
Nguyen, one of Lien's neighbours, said, "We often go downtown for grocery shopping but I try to buy from Lien to support her. We also help her after her husband had a stroke."
Recently, Lien fell from a tree while trying to pick longan fruit and had to borrow money to go to the hospital.
Nguyen Van Hop, head of Da Bo Dao Village, said they can only help Lien so much so they hope that she will get more help from the community.
