The ceremony was attended by Editor-in-chief of Dan Tri/DTiNews Newspaper and director of the Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion, Pham Huy Hoan, head of Shinnyo-en team Kazuhisa Masumoto, and leaders of Phu Tho Province.
The construction of three classrooms and a meeting room for Vo Mieu 2 Primary School in Vo Mieu Commune cost VND700 million (USD30,434) of which USD11,100 was donated by the Japanese organisation and the rest came from the district's budget.
Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-chief of Dan Tri/DTiNews Newspaper and director of the Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion, Pham Huy Hoan said that Shinnyo-en Foundation has joined with the Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion and Dan Tri/DTiNews Newspaper to support Vietnamese pupils nation-wide over the past 10 years.
“We want to send our sincere thanks to the people, local authorities and especially teachers at Vo Mieu 2 Primary School for having spent the donations from Shinnyo-en Foundation effectively," he said.
Head of Shinnyo-en team Kazuhisa Masumoto shared that the money was sent by Japanese Buddhists in the foundation.
"The Vo Mieu 2 Primary School is the 10th school to have received donations from Shinnyo-en," he said.
Chairman of Vo Mieu Commune People's Committee, Ha Van Thao, told the ceremony that the commune is a difficult mountainous area which has five schools.
"We are very happy to receive donations from the Dan Tri/DTiNews Newspaper, the Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion, and Shinnyo-en Foundation to build new classroom for Vo Mieu 2 Primary School," he said. "This is a meaningful present for teachers and 761 pupils here to improve teaching and studying quality."
