Terminally-ill man calls for help for children
A man who is struggling with cancer in Hai Duong Province is calling for financial help to support his three disabled children.
Four members at the family of 65-year-old Vu Duc Nghia are disabled while the bread-winner is now nearly bed-bound. Nghia's family had to borrow money to bring him to the hospital but the money ran out quickly. Nghia is in the last stage of liver cancer.
Who that can walk stayed up all night to look after Nghia. Nghia said he was born with deformed legs. He got married and has three children together. Unfortunately, his two eldest children were paralysed since birth and his youngest son has hearing loss.
Vu Van Phuong, Nghia's youngest son, said, "My father is in pain. I have to stay up at night to look after him because I fear that he may die anytime."
Before Tet Holiday, Phuong fainted several times because of the pain so the neighbours helped bring him to the hospital. His family borrowed VND35m (USD1,500) from the communal credit facility and VND8m from the communal women's association.
Nghia said he was only afraid that no one would help his children. "I don't have much time left. I only hope that my children will not be hungry."
