Former state president supports rural bridge construction

Former State President Truong Tan Sang has called for financial support from the public for the construction of bridges in the southern province of An Giang. 

On Monday, 24 bridges in An Giang Province worth VND34 billion (USD1.47 million) were inaugurated.

Among those, nine are in Tan Chau Town, cost VND16 billion, including VND11.6 billion raised by four companies following the call of the former State President Truong Tan Sang and Nong Thon Viet magazine. 

Huynh Quoc Thai, chairman of Tan Chau Commune People's Committee, said that Tan Chau is home 60 bridges with most wooden. Many have severely deteriorated. 

On the same day, authorities in Tri Ton District also inaugurated 16 other bridges with a total investment capital of VND18 billion. Of the capital, VND13.5 billion is sourced from the funds raised by the former state president and the magazine.
