In 2005, Hua Phuong Tin, 38, in Can Tho City's Thoi An Ward, got married and had a son. When his son was just 13 months old, his wife left him to live with another man.

Due to the family's financial difficulties, Tin left his son at home to be taken care of his parents and then came to HCM City to find a job. 

After that, he suffered from sciatica, so he had to return home. 

On February 14, he was struck by a traffic accident, injuring his marrow. As a result, he has been paralysed. 

According to doctors, he needed surgery which would cost more than VND70 million (USD3,000), excluding medicine and hospital fees. 

However, his family is so poor to cover the treatment. 

Tin's mother Nguyen Thuy Lieu has been trying to borrow money from different sources to afford the surgery. 

Now he is staying at hospital for the treatment following the operation. The treatment would be very long and costly, particularly he does not health insurance. 

Nguyen Huu Thuyet from Can Tho General Hospital said that it would difficult for him to fully recover due to serious injuries. He is expected to be able to partially recover and be at least able to sit up.
