Young man calls for help to walk again
A man from the Thai ethnic group in Lai Chau Province is calling for financial support to help cover surgery fees for his hip joints.
Dieu Thi Cuong and her son have visited various hospitals after Quang fell ill two months ago. Cuong said her husband died from drowning long ago and her son, Lo Vinh Quang, got married with one child.
"Because of poverty, they don't dare to have more children. But if he doesn't have this surgery, will he never be able to walk again? How can he support his family then?" Cuong said.
According to Dr Tu Duy Linh, when Quang was admitted, he was in critical condition. He couldn't walk as his hip joints deteriorated. Health insurance only pays a small part for the surgery and the family still have to pay VND100m (USD4,300) in advance. He will recover after the hip joint replacement. But if he isn't treated, he can never walk again, Linh said.
"We have been able to borrow VND30m," Quang said, "Please help me."
