Dantri/DTiNews reader donates USD43,478 for hospital in Covid-19 fight

A reader of Dantri/DTiNews online newspaper has donated VND1 billion (USD43,478) for the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi in the fight against Covid-19.

On March 24, on behalf of the reader whose name has not been disclosed, Editor-in-chief of Dantri/DTiNews, Journalist Pham Huy Hoan presented the donation to the hospital.

The donation is aimed to help the hospital take care of its staff better as they have to work very hard to provide treatment for Covid-19 patients.

Dr. Le Van Dung, deputy director of the hospital, expressed his deep thanks to the reader, adding that the money would be used in a transparent way.

According to Dung, all staff in the hospital are actively carrying out their duty in the battle against Covid-19. The struggle would be long and challenging with a high risk of infection, but doctors are optimistic and trying their best to provide treatment. Some doctors even stayed in the quarantine room for up to 12 hours to provide treatment for patients.

He said that three doctors and nurses including one of the hospital who tested positive to the virus were now in stable health.
